Product description
This Bearbrick celebrates a milestone in film history: Takashi Yamazaki's "Godzilla Minus One" won an Oscar in 2024, the first Godzilla film ever to do so – for Best Visual Effects. With a minimal budget of $15 million and a small team of just 35 VFX artists, Yamazaki created a masterpiece that surpassed Hollywood productions with many times the budget. The design of this Bearbrick captures every detail of the Oscar-winning creature, which was digitally sculpted in ZBrush, processing billions of polygons.
The design is terrifying: The dark gray to anthracite body displays the characteristic scale texture with razor-sharp resolution, accentuated by golden-yellow highlights along the spine, arms, and legs. The head features the iconic wide maw with white, needle-sharp teeth and bright yellow eyes that never blink—a deliberate design element to heighten the menace. The golden spikes on the head reference Godzilla's atomic nature and the legendary heat ray that glowed blue like nuclear particles in "Minus One." Every wrinkle, every texture was crafted in such detail that even extreme close-ups were possible in the film.
The film itself is set in post-war Japan in 1947 and explores themes of trauma, guilt, and collective overcoming. Yamazaki, the second director after Stanley Kubrick to win a VFX Oscar for 2001: A Space Odyssey, crafted a story about a failed kamikaze pilot fighting against the atomic threat. Its international success, grossing over $115 million, made "Minus One" the most successful Japanese Godzilla film in the US. With this Bearbrick, you're getting a piece of cinematic history and the essence of what has made Godzilla an icon for 70 years – a metaphor for human destructiveness and the power to rise from the darkness.

What packaging does this Bearbrick come in?
This Bearbrick comes in the official original Medicom Toy packaging (see specifications). This is often a collector's item in its own right and important for preserving the model's value. We take care to ensure secure packaging for shipping to prevent damage during transport.
What material is this Bearbrick made of and how do I best care for it?
Most Bearbricks are made of high-quality plastic (ABS plastic), unless otherwise stated in the specifications. For maintenance, we recommend gently dusting the figure regularly with a soft, dry cloth. On chrome versions, fingerprints should be avoided; cloth gloves may be helpful here. Direct sunlight and high humidity should be avoided to protect the colors and material over time and ensure long-term value retention.

How does the quality and mobility of this model differ from other sizes?
Medicom Toy's production quality is very high across all sizes. Larger models (400% or 1000%) often offer more space for detailed designs. However, the joints vary depending on the size: In larger models (400% and 1000%), the arms and legs usually rotate in a single plane. Smaller Bearbricks (especially 100% and 200%) often have ball joints, allowing for more flexible movement of the limbs.
