Product description
This Bearbrick from the Flag category of Series 30 celebrates one of the most colorful traditions of Japanese fishing culture. Tairyō-bata, literally "big catch flags," have been hoisted by returning fishing boats since the Edo period to signal a successful catch to families and port communities. The distinctive kanji 大漁 on the top of this Bearbrick mean just that: "big catch"—a symbol of prosperity, good fortune, and abundance that is now used far beyond fishing, at weddings, births, and ship christenings.
The design unites traditional Japanese lucky motifs in vibrant splendor. The dramatic color gradient from bright red through rich orange to radiant yellow evokes a spectacular sunrise over the Pacific Ocean – that magical moment when fishermen return to port with a bountiful catch. At the center of the flag's breast is the iconic black silhouette of Mount Fuji, Japan's most sacred mountain and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013. The kanji 富士 in Fuji's name mean "prosperity" and "man of status" – the perfect mountain for a lucky flag. The depiction of Fuji is framed by stylized waves in classic Japanese style, their bold blue and dynamic white outlines reminiscent of Hokusai's famous ukiyo-e prints.
The scattered white dots across the bearbrick enhance the festive flair of this nautical composition—perhaps snowflakes on Mount Fuji or stylized symbols of good fortune representing the blessings of the sea. The dark blue gradient legs symbolize the depths of the ocean, from which wealth springs. These tairyō-bata were traditionally hand-dyed using the intricate tsutsugaki technique—a centuries-old method with rice starch paste that gives these flags their powerful color gradients and vibrant expressiveness. A piece of Japanese maritime culture as a designer toy—perfect for collectors who appreciate the fusion of maritime heritage and contemporary aesthetics.

What packaging does this Bearbrick come in?
This Bearbrick comes in the official original Medicom Toy packaging (see specifications). This is often a collector's item in its own right and important for preserving the model's value. We take care to ensure secure packaging for shipping to prevent damage during transport.
What material is this Bearbrick made of and how do I best care for it?
Most Bearbricks are made of high-quality plastic (ABS plastic), unless otherwise stated in the specifications.
